Ancilliary Texts

Magazine front covers:

The Magazine front cover for the film 'Inception' is done in a way in which the feel of the film is shown within the magazine front cover. The use of the one main image, of Leonardo Dicaprio, the main character of the film is shown, just like in the film posters. The title of the film is centred aswell as the picture. Other films, blockbusters, are used on either side of the image as a convention of the magazine front cover/magazine. The writing is three different primary colours which makes some words stand out more than others. A pull quote is used under the title of the film, from the article, to re-enforce the positive attitude towards the film in which the writer has written the article in. The Directiors name 'Christopher Nolan' is used above the title giving him authorship of the film but also to give the audience an insight into the film and how it is filmed as Christoper Nolan, to film lovers, is a a well known director.  The use of the directionality of the text re-enforces the key themes within the text, this is done to make the magazine cover more attractive and stand out to the target audience at hand. The use of photoshop has allowed Empire's producer to photoshop in a city landscape, taken from a high angle, making the magazine front cover a representation and reflection of the film at hand.
